Mental performance coaching helps athletes and performers overcome performance obstacles including pre-performance anxiety, pressure, and adversity. My role as a mental performance coach is to teach you skills to overcome those obstacles by boosting your confidence, increasing your ability to regulate your emotions, and developing tools to increase focus, concentration, and resilience.

How can mental performance coaching help athletes?

Mental performance coaching helps athletes develop and refine the mental aspects of the game or sport, including reducing pre-performance anxiety, managing fear, increasing confidence, and using self-talk, visualization, and mindfulness to achieve goals.

How can mental performance coaching help non-athletes?

Mental performance coaching can help first-responders, military personnel, fine arts performers, and business people reduce performance anxiety, improve concentration and communication, build confidence, and set goals. Lynn has been working with athletes since 2015, and she completed her masters in Applied Sports Psychology at Adams State in 2025. What can I expect from our first session?

We will chat on a video call and get to know each other. We will discuss your reasons for seeking mental training, your goals, and the unique elements of your sport or performance. We will begin to work together to create a plan to help you accomplish your goals and address any areas of concern you may have about your sport or performance.

How is mental performance coaching different from “mental agility training” or life coaching?

Mental performance coaches are certified (CMPC). This is a national certification that demonstrates that a practitioner has reached standards set by the Association for Applied Sport Psychology. Mental performance coaches must have a masters or doctoral degree in sport psychology to apply for certification and must pass a written test in addition to having fulfilled a minimum number of supervised hours.
